Speaker

Therese Huston, Ph.D.

Dr. Huston is a cognitive neuroscientist at Seattle University who turns good science into practical strategies for everyday life. A teacher at heart, she focuses on helping people understand how their brains work so they can think, lead, and learn more effectively.

Dr. Huston has consulted with universities, Fortune 500 companies, and tech organizations around the world, offering workshops on decision-making, bias, and brain-wise performance. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, TIME, The Guardian, and Harvard Business Review. Although she’s the author of five books, she’s especially proud of her two most recent: Sharp: 14 Simple Ways to Improve Your Life with Brain Science and Best Brain Ever, a middle-schooler’s guide to being their best self.

Dr. Huston received her MS and PhD in cognitive psychology from Carnegie Mellon University and a degree in Organizational Leadership from Oxford University. She was the founding director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at Seattle University and now serves as a consultant for the university’s Center for Faculty Development. She lives in Seattle with her husband and their very opinionated Boston Terrier, who clearly knows who’s really in charge.
