From Insight to Action

Most people have ideas they care about. The hard part is moving from thinking to doing.

When the Mensa Foundation studied the unmet needs of highly intelligent individuals, the feedback was straightforward. Many people wanted mentorship. Others talked about pacing big projects or finding collaborators who could challenge their thinking. What they described wasn’t a lack of curiosity; it was a lack of places where ideas could keep moving once the first spark faded.

Many gifted and neurodivergent thinkers recognize that gap. Intelligence helps generate possibilities, but progress often depends on environment. The Challenge was built around that reality.

What the Challenge Is

The Challenge takes place over two days during the American Mensa Annual Gathering. Participants bring problems they want to explore and work through them with a room full of curious people who are ready to engage.

Presenters share a clear problem statement and the direction they want to pursue. The group responds with questions and perspective, helping clarify what feels possible right now. Participants then work on shaping an action plan they can carry beyond the event.

This is not about arriving with a finished solution. It is about leaving with a clearer path.

How It Works

  • Share your problem and solution: Explain the issue you want to address and the approach you want to explore.
  • Workshop your action plan: Work independently or with collaborators to shape practical next steps.
  • Present your plan and ask for support: Share what you’ve developed and identify what will help you move forward.

Two Ways to Participate

  • Presenters bring a project to develop in real time.
  • Collaborators join the conversation, ask questions, and contribute where it makes sense.

Some people arrive with a problem they want to solve. Others come because they know how to make ideas stronger simply by engaging with them.

Support and Opportunities

Select projects may be eligible for additional support from the Mensa Foundation, including mentorship, introductions, or funding that helps extend the work beyond the event.

Join Us

If you have a problem you keep coming back to, bring it. If you’re the kind of person who helps others see things more clearly, bring that too. The Challenge makes room for both.
