U.S. scholarship calendar

March-July: National Scholarship Chair(s) get completed scholarship program participation agreements from Local and Regional Scholarship Chairs. September: Local Chairs get materials and instruction books from National Chair(s). Copies of the packet are posted to the Local Chair's or Local Group's Web site. Chairs rent post office boxes, if desired, and start recruiting judges. The scholarship entry forms are also made available online.

September-December: Local Chairs send program information to school districts, colleges, the press, etc., and mail applications as requested. Application forms will be available to students who live in the geographic areas of participating Local Groups until Jan. 15.

September-January: Local Chairs (or their delegates) receive and code the essays in preparation for judging. The essay postmark deadline is Jan. 15.

February: Local Chairs have essays judged and forward the winning essays and the scholarship report to Regional Scholarship Chairs on or before Feb. 16.

March: Regional Chairs have essays judged and forward the winning essays and the scholarship report to National Scholarship Chair(s) on or before March 22.

March-May: National Scholarship Chair(s) have essays judged and finalize the list of winners, which is approved by the Foundation Board of Trustees. The list is sent to Regional and Local Scholarship Chairs. This list is official by the end of June and is posted to this site at that time.

March-July: Local members sign up to be Local Scholarship Chairs for next year, or they assist their Local Group Presidents in finding their replacements.

March-June: Local and Regional Scholarship Chairs prepare and submit their expense reports to the Foundation Director.

May: The process of notifying winners begins mid-month.

June 1: Scholarship winners are posted to the Foundation Web site.

July: All scholarship chairs are most warmly invited to attend a reception at the Annual Gathering.
