What does the New Projects Committee
do?
This committee reviews and evaluates each new, major project proposed by
a Mensa Foundation trustee or by others, who may not be members of
Mensa. The committee then presents recommendations to the Foundation
Board of Trustees.
Who is on the committee?
The committee includes an attorney for legal review, the Foundation
treasurer for funding advice and other specialists.
What kinds of projects are considered?
Any project consistent with the Foundation charter is considered. That
includes, but is not limited to, new types of scholarships or awards,
projects in support of gifted education, etc. However, the Foundation
does not fund individual research projects.
What should I do to request support for a new
project?
Begin by sending a brief explanatory letter (one or two pages) to the
Mensa Foundation New Projects Committee, 1229 Corporate Drive West,
Arlington, TX 76006-6103.
Who approves new projects?
The New Projects Committee cannot approve projects. The Board of
Trustees, with advice and counsel of the New Projects Committee, votes
to approve or disapprove each major step in the consideration of a new
project, from its initial concept to final acceptance. Certain kinds of
proposals may also require review by, or referral to, the joint Mensa
Foundation/American Mensa Research Review Committee.
Does
the Foundation conduct research projects?
No.
Does the Foundation publish research reports?
Yes. See the information about the Mensa Research
Journal.
