Distinguished Teacher Award

The Mensa Distinguished Teacher Award recognizes a teacher, professor or instructor at any educational level who has had an especially positive influence on the education or life of a Mensa member. The educator can impact the Mensa member directly or as a result of their influence on the education of a dependent. The Mensa member may submit the recognition letter for themselves or their dependent. A joint submission is encouraged if a dependent's educator is being recognized.

Nominations will be accepted only from members in good standing of American Mensa, Ltd. Each nominated teacher must agree in writing to the nomination. Complete entries include the nomination form, the signed teacher agreement form and an essay of not more than 500 words written by the Mensa member describing the impact the teacher had on his or her life.

Entries must be submitted to the Mensa Foundation not later than April 15. Essays will be judged by a committee of three to seven Mensa members. Nominations received that do not conform to the rules of the competition will be rejected. Apply now

The winning teacher and the essay writer are invited to the Mensa Foundation President's reception at the Annual Gathering. If the teacher does not attend, arrangements are made to present the award at another time and place. The teacher receives a plaque and cash donation, and the teacher's school district receives a plaque.
